The Reggae Spot: Damian Marley

Damian Marley is one of Bob Marley's 12 children. Dreadlock bound, but is he Rastafarian?

Damian sports the pimp cane and the player suit; not so reggae if you asked me. Damian is absolutely nothing like his father and is into a whole different music scene. What music scene then you ask? Reggaeton.

With styles similar to hip-hop and rap, the music is accompanied with a reggae beat at times. While Damian is known to rap in all of his songs, one thing that I like about him is his ability to be a true artist live. Damian slows down the tunes and sings it out with all his soul. Many artists are great in the studio and horrible in concert, while some are not so good in the studio and great live. I prefer them to be the second.

Of all the songs, and live shows of Damian I've seen, I'm pleased by him. Although I am no culprit of reggaeton, I like Damian's style live and his passion. He seems to become more of a reggae artists live when he plays out and is passionate.

My favorite song of his live is Welcome to Jamrock.
