Orbs - Asleep Next to Science
I have been eagerly awaiting this albums arrival. Finally I possess it and I am currently viewing it with my ears. I am already familiar with a few tracks. Dan Briggs, who plays bass in Between the Buried and Me plays guitar in this band, also Orbs has Cradle of Filth/Abigail Williams' keyboardist. Neither band I am fond of but what she does works for this band. two members of Fear Before, a band I have never listened too. The vocalist, Adam Fisher is absolutely fantastic. The drummer is good, not extraordinary but he gets the job done. The bassist, who I have never heard of is half decent. I would prefer Dan Briggs because he is one of the greatest bassists in modern metal.
But this is not a metal album! This is a progressive rock album! The lyrics are fairly interesting too. Even by my standards. In case you didn't know my standards I could care less about lyrics. The first song, Sayer Of The Law is pretty awesome and my second favorite song on the album. That song would give you a good just of the band. Despite the diverse array of band members participating in this release it sounds rarely similar to any of those acts.
Enchanting melodies from piano haunts each and every track. And the vocals which sound a mix of Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins and whoever sings in Muse are ironicly my favorite part. The man has a way of singing which is quite unique, and I love it.
If you are fan of proggressive rock, space rock, or even alternative I highley recomend this album. It gets a favorable rating from myself. Below is my favorite song.
