Maybe you are curious about my favorite albums of all time. Maybe you aren't. Here it is either way, It isn't standard at all so don't expect any Beatles or Rolling Stone albums here. Please note these are my favorite not the ones I consider the greatest.
Critics would not agree with me. But this is my favorite Death album. This is the peak of Death Metal in my eyes. Every single song is a masterpiece. If you haven't heard this album you are missing a key section of metal. Chuck Schuldiner created a genre, without him all you core kids wouldn't have your Bring Me The Horizon.
9. Megadeth- Rust In Peace
8. Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention- One Size Fits All
Isis was definitely one of the greatest bands in the past decade. Isis split up recently which pretty much means the end of post-metal sludge. It may be for the best so hipsters don't flock to the genre and ruin it. There is still other great bands in that category but none live up to the reputation of the originators of the genre. If you haven't heard this record what are you waiting for?
Everyone's favorite Black Flag album. This is what hardcore was, this is what hardcore should be. Forget swoop hair, breakdowns, and auto-tune. Don't be the kid who has never listened to Black Flag. Nobody likes that kid.
5. Misfits- Static Age
What can I say? Glenn Danzig is a vocal god. I don't like the tag of Horror Punk simply cause I think it is too small a movement to be a genre, it is really '80s hardcore with horror movie inspired lyrics rapped up in an eerie package. I am usually not a fan of low quality recordings but it fits this album perfectly. Don't be a tool with a Misfit's skull shirt and not be familiar with this album.
4. Talking Heads- Talking Heads: 77
The first release of the legendary post-punk quartet. I personally think it is the best from them. Others argue that "Fear of Music" and "Speaking In Tongues" is better but I disagree. Your parents are probably familiar with this. So why aren't you? This album will change your opinion on music completely. Extremely minimalistic like all good post-punk bands should be. David Byrnes lyrics and vocals should entertain you to the least.
Now most of you are probably thinking... What? A Hip-Hop album on Brandon's blog? Yes it is, That is why this album is so great. I normally dislike Hip-Hop especially the modern variety. This record completely changed my mind about the genre. It should change your opinion too. Its one hundred and fifty times better than Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Kid Cudi even 50-Cent. So go get it now and listen to the best Hip-Hop album of all time!
The original short lived ska punk band. With twenty seven songs this album is a bargain. So why don't you have it? Did I mention that it is the best ska release ever? This band transformed to Rancid another fantastic ska band. Listen to this, get into ska and enjoy life bro.
My favorite album of all time. The best post-punk from England. More minimalistic and quirky than Talking Heads. Which in my opinion is better. The guitarist is doing absolutely nothing of value at any time. Solid Drums and Bass keep this album together. The obvious answer is give it a listen if you haven't. You will love it I guarantee.
Those are my favorite albums. If you like music in the least bit you should have heard all of those. Not that my opinion is anything of substance. Hopefully I have exposed you to some great music.
