Beginner Skramz.

For my first real article, I thought I'd do something near and dear to my heart.
Screamo.
No, not that "cut my wrists, wear eyeliner" scene bullshit that every fucking kid ever who wanted to be cool and underground listened to a year or two ago,
  "OMG, th1s new brokeNCYDE album i5 s000000 br00tal."

I mean screamo, the pure untainted DIY scene it should be.
The underground tr00 version, that involves real emotion, no auto-tune, no high budget bullshit.

What I consider to be a pioneer of modern skramz (or screamo, for you uneducated people)

When I was young, and innocent, and unaware of what real music was, I always thought screamo was some evil auditory witch craft, that corrupted the soul.

Thankfully, I grew out of it.
But, if you find yourself in a similar situation to what I was in, here are some suggestions on your path to underground musical enlightenment.

1st) Intro To Skramz

As I said before, I was a virgin, to anything other than top 40 hits, as a child.
That is, up until I got into this band.
My very first album, and the thing that inspired me to play music

The fall of troy were a post-hardcore band, and basically my gateway into things. They were my first show, and album, and guitar covers.
If you're still in your pop phase, I suggest listening to the "Phantoms On The Horizon" EP, and gradually working your way into their earlier works.

Best works, In order of worst to best (In my opinion)
In The Unlikely Event - 2009 -  Equal Vision Records
Without a doubt, the worst material the fall of troy ever produced. It's as if they tried to go pop while trying to please their        fans. It was also their final release, so to end on such a sad note it disappointing, at the best.  3/10

Doppelganger - 2005 - Equal Vision Records
While many fans of this band consider this to be their best album released, I find it a bit to over produced, and toned down. It has it's shining moments ("Tom Waits" for the more spastic mathy points, and "...Hotwire A Uterus" for it's heavier spots) but, I think that all the original demo versions of the songs on this album are better than the final product. 7.5/10

Good but not great

Phantom On The Horizon - 2008 - Equal Vision Records
Ah, the ghostship demos. Probably the fall of troys shining release. This is the exact same thing as that, except over-produced to shit, and with an actual good quality recording of Ghostship 2, and a non-live recording of ghostship 3. Alot of studio effects, and whatnot. still good. Not great 7.5/10

Manipulator - 2007 - Equal Vision Records
The Fall Of Troy's more experimental moments. All around an excellent album, managing to pull it off well, with alot of great gems (Seattlantis, A Man A Plan A Canal Panama.) and a misfire or two (Oh?! The Casino?!, and Quarter-Past) 8.5/10

Ghostship Demos - 2004 - Self Released
Just Pure gold. Can't go wrong with it. Should've been a full length
9.5/10

S/T - 2003 -Lujo Records
An absolute masterpiece. I love every single song on it, and I know every single piece of it, on drums, guitar, bass, vocals, and so on.
I suggest it to everyone and anyone.
100/10

The original demos were better
